Construction of the streetcar lines would be minimally intrusive on Downtown traffic and merchants. A streetcar only runs in one lane of traffic, so only one lane needs to be closed for construction.

Construction only takes about three weeks per block, and the sidewalks on the block under construction can stay open, allowing access to the stores along the route during construction.

Very little parallel parking along the route will need to be converted for the streetcar. The stops are located every two or three blocks. At the stop, the curb is extended to come up to the streetcar. This allows passengers to step safely from the curb onto the train. Only one or two parallel parking spots need to be eliminated for a stop.
